New Gallery

So .... I've got the papers signed and I'm ready to make some changes. In color gallery and design is moving the shop to 533 East Main the end of Aug. Hoping to have a grand opening on the 1st of September. I'll be starting the transformation of the old " The West Coast Machine Guns " to "In Color Gallery and Design". I'll be posting pics as we go . Bigger space , no direct sun light to damage the artwork and we'll be on Main across from Victoriana's Antiques. I'm remaining open throughout the move at the old gallery. We will probably be closed just a day or two before the re-opening at the new location. I have decided to close on mondays as well as sundays for this month only in order to give a bit more time for outside business .

before and after bathroom. wanted a BIG color in this little bathroom and now I get to have fun with  rugs and towels ..... finally . lots of hurry up and wait time when you do tile with accent  pieces. I picked out the IKEA sink for it's very small frame and yet, large basin . Got the faucet their too . The toilet was the most narrow I could find and of good quality, same with the tub, saved around 5 inches between the two.  Pocket door to finish it all off. The bathroom  was always too small . The door would hit the cabinet and the two old globe lights that hung down in front of the mirror. no room for dressing. I also got rid of a false wall hiding the inner wall shower plumbing at the end of the old tub and added a ledge and 6 inches of wall space by placing plumbing on the opposite wall

Stopped into our local french bakery, Fleur de lis , to pick up some pastries for a gathering at the gallery this morning and took a few pics of the decorative painting I did when the bakery was newly opening. A slight flourish here and there to bring enhance the french design. There is a nice mural of Notre Dame on the west wall also.... this is by muralist Janelle Emery.

I'm back to work now. Went to the Redwoods .... camping and hiking. Amazing! Albee Creek campground ... 5 miles off the main roads and next to hiking trails. Vocabulary got very small next to those ancient trees.... " wow, there's a big one! " " look " " look "

I just got a couple of before pics from a little paint job i did many months ago. New house with lots of white walls . A few suggestions to add a some accent colors to give a bit more dimension to the dining room and the living room fireplace. These contemporary fireplaces can look ever so boring if kept the same as the walls. I chose the colors for the dining and painted the border on in lieu of putting up a permanent chair rail. The top trim on the fireplace is finished with a metallic bronze and gold paint.

one mirror gone and another one finished

The large green mirror has been shipped out and I just put this one out in the gallery. Beautiful wood with a few flaws, a small chip in the veneer and it had 1/2 in. holes on the sides where it had been mounted to a dresser as a vanity mirror. I patched the holes, limited the decorative painting to the sides which also camouflaged the holes and then I polyurethaned it with satin finish oil based poly to bring out the rich wood grain. So.... no dresser and it happens to be a beautiful old beveled mirror. Perfect to incorporate a little design and give it a new and different life 32 X 20 inch

revamped floor cloth

I did this floor cloth for a local business called JD Clothing Company a couple of yrs ago. Recently she closed to move to Hawaii and start a clothing business in Kona. She loved the floor cloth in her entrance but the style was so different from what she will be doing in Hawaii . So I am re- doing the logo and design. This is the start of the process . More to come to brighten the red with some begonia and I'll be adding in some yellow also. The original rug was placed on a low pile rug ( which is not recommended ) and hence it curled on one corner .... so to remedy that, I am creating a dog eared corner. More pics in following weeks before I ship it off to Hawaii. PS : the red in the second pic is actually the same as the first. I haven't changed that deep red yet.
